Shelter Cat Sunday

Today’s featured shelter cat is Magic. Magic is a 5 year old male and is available for adoption from Furry Friends in Vancouver, WA.

Who’s playful, very friendly, and strikingly handsome? That’s me! My name is Magic, and I would love to have a family to call my own. My mid-length black fur is soft and shiny, and it feels awesome when people pet me and scratch my chin. I think sitting on warm laps is pretty great too, especially since I love spending lots of time with people. Heights definitely don’t scare me, so sometimes I’ll climb up the cat tree or a screen door to get a better view of what you’re doing. Catnip is one of my favorite things ever, but when I don’t have any of that to snack on I think cat grass is pretty tasty too. And playing with wand and string toys can be a ton of fun, so I get really enthusiastic sometimes when you wiggle one of those around for me to chase. I’d be totally cool with sharing my home with another feline, but since I have FIV all of my kitty playmates should already have FIV, too. I’m also ok with being an only cat, but I need to be able to spend some time playing with and loving on my family every day, or else I’ll start to feel lonely. Even though I have FIV, the vet says I can still live a long and healthy life. So if you’ve been searching for just the right kitty to bring some warmth and smiles to your home, you can be sure that I’ve got the Magic touch!

Shelter Cat Sunday

Today’s featured shelter cat is Twinkles. She is an adult female and is available for adoption from the Delaware Human Society.

Twinkles is a mama cat who was surrendered by her owners along with her kittens, who have all been adopted. Twinkles is black with some white on her chest and belly. She also has white speckled throughout the rest of her fur, which is very pretty. Twinkles likes people and will seek out attention, but she is not needy. She is curious and likes to observe what is going on around her. Twinkles would be happiest in a home without other cats. We are not yet sure how she is with dogs or kids. Twinkles has done her job as as a mama and is ready to be showered with love by her people.

Shelter Cat Sunday

Today’s featured shelter cat is Bonnie. She is a 1 year old female and is available for adoption from The Cat House on the Kings in Parlier, CA.

Bonnie is a classic calico beauty with a sweet and playful personality. Her foster mom says she’s a smart little girl who likes to look things over, decide on the sensible approach, then wade in with a confident spirit! This leads her to often figure things out before the other kittens and cats who are her playmates. Being petted and having her velvety ears scratched are also high on this loving girl’s list of favorite things. With her sweet and friendly personality and her uniquely gorgeous coat of many colors, she is an irresistibly darling doll. Could precious Bonnie  be just the cherished treasure you’ve been hoping for?

Shelter Cat Sunday

Today’s featured shelter cat is Sammy. He is a male kitten of about 8 months and is available for adoption from 9 Lives Rescue in Middleton, Wisconsin.

I am a cool looking guy! My head and tail are buff tabby colored and the rest of me is white except for four buff spots on one side! I like to play but like to purr and snuggle, too, and I like other kitties. I’ve been neutered, have all of my vaccines and am negative for feline leukemia. Do you have a spot in your heart for a new best friend?

Shelter Cat Sunday

Today’s featured shelter cat is Meatball. He is a 13 year old male available for adoption from the Animal Welfare Society in West Kennebunkport, Maine.

gray long hair cat

Meatball is a very outgoing, handsome man who loves nothing more than to be the center of attention. He enjoys being held and fancies himself a lap cat. With his long fur, Meatball requires regular grooming. He enjoys looking his best and doesn’t mind being brushed. He loves to be with his people, hanging out, relaxing, just being together.

Meatball has feline diabetes and does require regular insulin shots. Luckily, the shots are easy to administer – he doesn’t even know they are happening. Cats with feline diabetes can lead long healthy lives with daily insulin shots, a regulated diet and regular visits to the veterinarian for blood sugar testing. While having a diabetic cat does require a financial commitment, it’s not prohibitively expensive. Usually once all is said and done, it’s only a few dollars per day (The costs vary based on insulin dosage, supply costs and frequency of vet visits — we recommend potential adopters consult with their veterinarian for a more specific figure).

The adoption fee for Meatball is waived! If you have room in your heart and your home for a very handsome and loving boy contact AWS today before this handsome guy is scooped up!

Shelter Cat Sunday

Being former shelter cats ourselves, it is important to us that we honor cats who are still looking for their forever home and also the shelters that work so hard to keep us safe and sound. Shelter Cat Sunday is a new addition to this site and we look forward to showcasing lots of kitties each and every Sunday.

Our first featured Shelter Cat is Zapple. Zapple is a 3 year old domestic shorthair who currently resides at BathPath Humane Society of Hopkinton in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Here is her story.

This pretty girl came to us with her 3 kittens. Now that she is done being a mom, she wants to be the center of attention! Right now we think Zapple will be happiest as the only animal in her home. She is shy initially, so would be happiest in a home with adults and teens. Once Zapple is comfortable she loves attention and is very friendly! She loves being pet but we don’t think she will be a lap cat. In the right home we think Zapple will blossom into quite the love bug! Come meet this sweetie today!
